You can sit the following exams at any level. You can sit two different levels on the same year:

– Certificate of Attainment in Greek Language

– Certificate of Attainment in Greek Language for Special Purposes A2 level

–Certificate of Attainment in Greek Language for children 8-12 years old

How do I know my level?

Contact us for a free assessment of your level of Greek by means of an oral and written test.  We can then help you plan your preparation.

Methodology 

Following your enrolment and payment, you will be given access to our online platform containing all preparatory materials. You study the materials, do the exercises and send them to your teacher who corrects and returns them within 48 hours.  

One-hour weekly meeting (or more) with your teacher online on TEAMS.  More hours of preparation can be arranged.  However, that should not be necessary if you do your homework according to the timetable agreed with your teacher.

One teaching hour is 60 minutes.

Where are the preparatory courses held?

Online courses are held on the Hellenic Culture Centre’s E-learning platform and include a one-hour session with your teacher on TEAMS.

Face-to-face courses can be held at a student’s home or workplace or hotel in Athens. Courses are also held at the Hellenic Culture Centre in Athens throughout the year.

Are there any private lessons?

Private/one-to-one lessons based on the personal programme created for each individual student are available.  Group courses are more unusual.

Content 

The preparation programme consists of:

• Study of the typology of exam exercises
• Stress management techniques during the examination
• Development of the four language skills (speaking, listening, reading, writing)
• Psychological parameters of the examination process requiring investigation 
• Information on the institutional issues concerning the State Certificate of Attainment in Greek and other certificates
• Detailed timetable covering the exam materials
• Extra revision materials according to each student learning gaps

What teaching materials are used?

Special manuals.  Past Greek Language Centre exam papers, using the books of KEG. Exercises in the four language skills (speaking, listening, reading, writing) and Use of Language tested in the exam. Cultural Awareness. 

Fees 

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF REGISTRATION

• All educational materials for this online course will be provided by the tutors online. Students do not need to buy the books. Online group and semi-private courses are 8 weeks long (one learning cycle).
• The platform will remain open for the students who would like to submit their assignments and complete all the activities for 10 (ten) days after the end of the TEAMS lessons, at no extra cost.
• The current programme of lessons agreed upon has to be completed within one year after the first/ initial registration for the relevant course.
• A Certificate of Attendance is issued for all students who will participate based on the hours they will have attended multiplied by 3, as online learning takes more time for a student to study.
• The students need at least one-hour of lessons every week to have access to the platform.

FORMING

• GROUP (4-8 students) course: The school is entitled to add up to 8 students to a GROUP course and the fee will be 12€ per person/ per hour
• SEMI-PRIVATE course: In case a student drops out of a SEMI-PRIVATE course of 3 students, the other two students will continue their course at the same fee for the current learning cycle (23 euro/hour)/person and maybe a third student of the same level will be added later
• SEMI-PRIVATE course: In case a student drops out of a SEMI-PRIVATE course of 2 students, the student who remains will continue their course at the PRIVATE fee (49 euro)
• SEMI-PRIVATE course: In case 2 student in a SEMI-PRIVATE course decide to close the group to a third one, the CLOSED SEMI-PRIVATE course costs 30€ per student
• PRIVATE course:49€ /student (for all levels)55€ for level C2+ and special courses
• PRIVATE course: In case the school adds a second or/and a third student to a PRIVATE course (after consulting with the student), the fee will be 23 euros per person.

PAYMENT

• The SEMI-PRIVATE & GROUP course should be paid in advance for 8 weeks
• The PRIVATE course should be paid in advance for at least 5 lessons

Tutors 

The courses are taught by experienced philologists and specialized partners.

Mrs. Ifigenia Georgiadou, who has been teaching Modern Greek since 1979, is responsible for the individual curriculum and course timetable of each student. She has developed a methodology for exam preparation, especially written exams.

Our students have an annual success rate of over 90%.

Dates 

Start dates for the 8-week cycle GROUP courses for the 2026-2028

Online courses are offered throughout the year, 7 days/ week, from 07.00 to 24.00 Greek time. Please contact us for information about private and semi-private courses.

We suggest 2 hours/week for levels A0- B2, and 1 hour/week for levels C1-C2+ and special courses. 

A teaching hour lasts 60 minutes.

The weekly schedule of the group and semi-private courses are arranged after consultation with the group.

Certification 

We offer courses for exam preparation for all three different certificates of Attainment in Greek organized by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Interior (for the Greek Citizenship) and are supervised by the Centre for the Greek Language. 

We also offer a certificate of attendance for the course that prepares you for the exam. 

The Hellenic Culture Centre is officially recognized as a Lifelong Learning Centre and a language school by the Greek Ministry of Education and Religions (EOPPEP code number 2101782/ 2018 and 2308668/2018).

Working language

Greek is the working language (at the beginners’ level we also use English or French). All teachers can speak at least one foreign language.

Cancellation policy for online courses

• The GROUP lessons and SEMI-PRIVATE lessons cannot be cancelled (if students do not attend a scheduled meeting, they pay 100% of the tuition), as the teacher must be paid. The lesson is even held with one of the students. Students can watch the video of the lesson, IF the video is available that day (there can always be possible technical problems).
• If a lesson in GROUP or SEMI-PRIVATE (2 or 3 students in small group) does not take place due to the absence of all students, everyone pays 50% of the tuition and the teacher is paid 50%. The only exception to this is if the entire group has agreed in advance with their teacher to postpone the lesson and thus this lesson will not be paid.
• A student may cancel IN WRITING a scheduled PRIVATE (one-to-one) lesson more than 6 hours in advance, by sending an email to the secretariat AND the teacher, so that he does not pay the tuition
• In the event that a student cancels a scheduled PRIVATE lesson 6 to 3 hours before, by sending an email to the secretariat AND the teacher, pays 50% of tuition fees
• In the event that a student cancels a scheduled PRIVATE lesson 3 to 1 hour before, by sending an email to the secretariat AND the teacher, pays 100% of the tuition.
• Tuition fees are refunded in full until the last day of registration in the programme (2 weeks before the start of the course) in a PRIVATE course programme ONLY.
• For late cancellations of a PRIVATE course there is no refund. However, the student can use the money to re-enroll within a calendar year. In this case, the student only pays the additional cost, if any.
• When the money is returned to the students, the bank fees are paid by them. In the event that the course has been canceled by the Centre, the tuition fees are refunded without any commission deductions.

Cancellation Policy for one-to-one Courses

1. Full refunds for one-to-one courses will be made until the last day of registration for the programme (1 month before the start of the course)
2. No refund will be given for late cancellations. However, the student is entitled to re-enroll within one calendar year. In this case, the student pays the additional cost, if any.
3. When the money is returned to the students, the bank fees are paid by them. In case the course has been canceled by the Center, the tuition fees are refunded without any commission deductions.
4. For one-to-one classes, you must cancel your class at least 12 hours in advance by emailing the office AND the teacher. If you cancel 12-6 hours in advance, you pay 50% of the tuition. For late cancellations (0-6 hours in advance), there will be no refund.

6. You receive from us the passwords to the platform as well as the contact details of your teacher
7. You start the lesson!

NOTES:

1. To find out your level in Greek, it would be good to do one of the grading tests that you can find above, in the Grading Test button. Keep in mind that it is best to print it out and write it by hand, without seeking any help. The test is gradually becoming more difficult. So, you do not have to finish it. Then scan it and send it to us, so we can suggest you the best course option that suits your level.
